Precision Tattoo Artistry Rooted in Expertise

My name is Gilbert “Skript” Parra, born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. Maryvale to be exact.

My introduction to art started at home with my Ma and Popz. My parents have always been surrounded by music, art, and sports, so creativity was something I grew up around naturally. I’ve dabbled in all three, but art has always been the one that stuck with me.

My artistic ability really started developing when I found graffiti. There was something about building letters, understanding structure, movement, and eventually painting realistic imagery on a large scale that pushed me to think differently. Graffiti taught me more than just how to paint, it taught me how to create for myself while still understanding how my work connects with the public.

I’ve only taken one formal art class in college, Introduction to Art. Everything else has been self-taught through years of practice, trial and error, and paying attention to the people around me. I also have to give credit to the friends and artists who have shared their knowledge with me along the way. A lot of what I know came from being willing to listen, experiment, and put the work in.

I’ve been tattooing for almost six years now, and I’ve loved every minute of the process. Tattooing has given me another way to translate the things I’ve learned through graffiti and large-scale painting into something more personal and permanent.

My favorite areas to work in are realism, neotraditional, and lettering. Whether it’s on a wall, a canvas, or someone’s skin, I’m always looking for ways to make the work feel intentional, original, and true to where I come from.
